About Tel Aviv (TLV) Airport

Tel Aviv (TLV) Airport, also called Ben Gurion International Airport (named as such after Israel’s first prime-minister) is the largest and busiest airport in Israel, with a number of 12,160,339 passengers registered in 2010. It is situated near the city of Lod, 15 km (9 mi) away from Tel Aviv, Israel. A hub for El Al, Arkia Israel Airlines and Israir Airlines, it was designated the best airport in Middle East and the second-best worldwide among those handling 5-15 million passengers.

Built in 1936, the airport has three terminals and three runways which are used by commercial, private and military aircraft all together. Terminal 3 has the layout of the European terminals, with multiple levels and pretty long distances to walk after disembarking from the plane. A mall and two synagogues can be found in here.
It is worth mentioning that it we are dealing with one of the most secure airports in the world. Security is ensured by both police officers and IDF soldiers who are dressed in uniform, but also in civilians (undercover), in order to increase the level of security by detecting any potential threat.

In terms of tourism, the surname given to Tel Aviv is more than suggestive: “The City That Never Sleeps”. No small wonder that it is a very popular destination, since it hosts plenty of shopping spots, restaurants, cafés and several beaches. More of this cosmopolite lifestyle will be reflected in the accommodation provided by Tel Aviv (TLV) Airport Hotels, an excellent host.
